This July, Mulgrave Road Theatre will celebrate its 30th birthday by producing the world premiere production of By the Dark of the Moon, a wonderful new play by Mary-Colin Chisholm & Christian Murray, with music by Sandy Moore. A romantic musical comedy set in the fictional Guysborough County locale of Molasses Harbour in the 1920’s, By the Dark of the Moon follows the story of one family, and their connection to the rum running antics in the bays and inlets of Nova Scotia and the Boston States. Interlaced with the family members are a slew of crazy characters who either rebel against or defend the temperance movement as they strive to find love and sustenance in a time of turmoil.
The production will be staged nightly at 8:00pm from Friday, July 27 until Sunday, July 29 at the new Chedabucto Place Performance Centre during Guysborough Come Home Week. It will feature actors Deb Allen, Karen Basset, Rhys Bevan-John, Kevin Curran, Michael Fahey and Andrea Lee Norwood, along with stage manager Kay Robertson, technical director Louisa Adamson and designers Stephen Osler, Denyse Karn and Leigh Ann Vardy.
